The Institute for Capacity Exchange in Environmental Decisions (formerly International Institute for Sustainability Australia) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2019
As an independent research institute, we combine extensive experience in the design and implementation of environmental policies and worldwide with cutting-edge approaches for systematic spatial planning, led by Australian institutions over the last decades. Our vision is to be globally recognised as an international hub for knowledge and capacity exchange in environmental decision-making.
We develop innovative and outstanding science-based research through a robust network of international collaborations with universities, research institutes and NGO’s
We have partnered with the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, governments and other NGOs to streamline spatial optimisation planning for forest and landscape restoration and make it more accessible to a wide range of stakeholders and decision-makers. We have developed a sophisticated and user-friendly decision support platform that can be tailored to different objectives, scales and planning contexts. It can be designed to inform both top-down and bottom-up decision-making processes.
Our decision support platform can significantly enhance the outcomes of policies, programs and projects for biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, climate change mitigation and poverty alleviation.
