International research synthesis workshop on associations between socio-environmental factors and biodiversity recovery in natural forest regrowth

The IIS Rio with collaboration of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) conducted an international research synthesis workshop in Rio de Janeiro between 29 and 21 October 2018. Renato Crouzeilles leaded this workshop.

The aim of the workshop was to identify the main associations between socio-environmetal factors and biodiversity recovery in natural forest regrowth of tropical ecosystems. During three days, thirteen researchers debated the processes and factors related to natural forest regrowth, and the potential relationships among them. They conducted both global systematic review and meta-analysis and built structural equation models and spatial predictive models to provide recomendations about scaling up, cost-effective natural forest regrowth.
